The Usual Place is a training cafe which offers young people with additional support needs employability skills and opportunities in Hospitatlity, Front of House, Retail and Facilities Services(janitoral) at SVQ level 1. We provide volunteering opportunities to help people build self confidence and social and communincations skills.

The Dumfries Arts Award Programme is run by the Theatre Royal in partnership with The Usual Place and the School of Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Glasgow. Following the model used at The Usual Place, the programme aims to provide individuals, who have additional support needs, with personalised work placements at the Theatre Royal. This is an exciting opportunity for people who have an interest in gaining experience in the creative and performing arts sectors.
