  • Stage 2 - Barrier Removal

To develop self -awareness and confidence. To raise awareness of being part of a community / society. To develop a sense of responsibility. To be more resilient as individuals and to learn practical first aid skills. Introductory discussion around barriers which prevent someone offering help / propensity to act; a basic first aid course covering C.P.R., choking, recovery position, a range of illnesses and injuries and how to treat them. Each student who completes the course receives a certificate valid for 3 years.

We are also broadening our offer to groups to include humanitarian education workshops and peer education for both the first aid programmes and humanitarian education.

Humanitarian education: a series of workshops (severe weather, conflict, H.I.V. and A.I.D.S, refugees and asylum seekers) designed to get young people to think about these issues, raise their awareness and become more resilient and how they can play a part in their community.

Peer Education: encouraging older youths to teach younger students new skills learnt either through the first aid or humanitarian education programme. Organising activities in their school and / or local community.
