Independent Living Support (ILS) is a small local charity with bases in Dumfries and Stranraer. Our purpose is to promote “simply surviving to actively thriving” by offering practical, social and emotional support to people from all backgrounds.
The programmes we have developed have been in response to the needs of clients expressed to us. ILS has developed expertise in working effectively with young and vulnerable people. Our culture is a supportive one. The relationships we build are genuine and lasting. Individuals return to us because they know we will listen, be non-judgemental and support their efforts in a way that works for them. Much of this work involves supporting people to re-engage with their communities and to progress towards independence.

Specific Covid 19 Support

ILS have taken the very difficult decision to close their offices.  Three member of staff have agreed to provide a limited outreach service to those in need.  Every outreach provision will be risk assessed to keep all those involved safe.  We are still contactable via emails or personal phones.
